About BRIGHT CHALET

Bright Chalet a holiday destination in itself, is positioned in one of north-east Victoria’s sub alpine towns. Bright is renowned Australia-wide for its magnificent autumn trees and spring gardens. 

This third generation family business was originally conceived in 1985 during our travels through Europe. The hospitable and friendly atmosphere offered to us in the Austrian and Swiss Pension accommodation houses inspired our family to develop this style of accommodation and hospitality in Victoria. 

Being keen skiing enthusiasts, we had experienced the beauty and delights of the Ovens Valley and in particular the Sub-Alpine township of Bright, and found this to be the perfect location for our venture.

our history

The construction of Bright Chalet commenced in November 1987 and was completed in September the following year. The construction included the hotel with eighteen bedrooms, a restaurant, a lounge, a bar, a commercial kitchen and a ski hire. 

1999 saw the completion of major renovation and building, adding an additional eight family rooms, a conference facility, a cocktail bar, a second restaurant area, and extensions to the commercial kitchen and ski hire.

In 2010, seeing the need for more off mountain ski hire choices, the decision was made to rebuild the ski centre to its current size with a greater variety of superior equipment at affordable rates.

We have a proud history of bringing people from all over the world to the Ovens Valley to see the beautiful Victorian Alps and look forward to continuing this for many years to come.
